That awkward little intro…
You just never know how to approach the first article much in the same way that you would with a superb new notebook. You know those notebooks that you have planned to only write in your ‘nice handwriting’ or to use clean lines and schmancy pens in. But a few months in it contains a few lists, some squiggles and ripped page corners.
Well, this post is that, for me at least.
Do I introduce myself, do I cover my aims and plans or do I go into the weirdest and most obtuse ramble because, in fairness, that is what I am like in person? As a woman whose brain typically has a multitude of ideas and conversations playing out in her brain, along with a need to succeed, help, and be downright random I will naturally cover it all because why the heck not, right?
I am thirty-seven but my mind isn’t. It varies anywhere from twenty-one to about one-hundred depending on who I’m dealing with. I’ve never taken things too seriously although my natural instinct is to dive deep into the discussion at hand and psychology the heck out of it — I’m sure some of you reading this can relate.
My favourite colour is red, although I’d never decorate my home [sanctuary] red as it’s too angry. My star sign is Taurus and I have to say, I’m absolutely a typical Taurean - let me sleep, let me relax and destress with music; not any particular song or band as my music preference is varied and ultimately, tease me with a range of foods and treats and I’m pretty satisfied in life, what can I say, I’m a cheap date.
I’m an INTJ/INFJ (depending on my environment). An introvert who is confident in small doses with small circles of people, I hate awkward silences and ramble a load of rubbish just to cut through the awkwardness. I adore life goals and, have never really had those major dreams like many of my peers did growing up. You know the ones like ‘becoming a superstar’ or ‘being on a TV show’ or modelling or marrying a rich person and never having to work. Nah, those were too boring for me — I on the other hand wanted to have babies, I wanted to be happy, I wanted to travel throughout Scotland, Ireland and Hungary (where my family are from) and, I wanted to learn to drive. Oh and maybe start a business and earn enough to feel secure.
Those are still pretty much my life goals at the moment.
I am a mum to sons. I am a step-mum to a son. I adore my family and genuinely feel that anything I do from this point onwards is a bonus. I always knew that I wanted to have children, the rest never phased me. Likewise, I was married. We divorced. I am now remarried. We all get along fabulously — it’s an unusual situation for sure but one that reminds me that humans don’t automatically have to be assholes.
Respect should be preserved. Sure, situations can get difficult but remember why you respected or cared for someone. Those traits probably didn’t change, they’re just shielded temporarily from you.
I have weird interests, I say ‘weird’ but they are probably more boring than weird depending on who you were to ask. I adore history, politics, cleaning, self-sufficiency along with bacteria, microbiomes, and human digestion if you want to make it specific. Again, I believe that human biomes are the key to most conditions and disease, understanding these along with nutrition and life around us enables us to tackle our own wellness from a mindful perspective.
That leads me to one of my main aims in life, for this Medium and where ever it may take me.
Wellness and how to approach it from a very unconventional mindset.
I’ll cover the why’s in a separate article. Wellness has been something that I have had to fight for throughout my own life, along with those around me growing up and onwards — it’s a never escaping challenge, and to beat it, as you do any life challenge, educating yourself and applying learning really is the best way to tackle your own unique health and wellness.
See diet books that will tell you to do x, y, or z. Influencers will push products, diet, and paid subscriptions however, they may not work and may be detrimental to your health and bank balance but why?
Well, to put it simply — you are unique.
You may want to look like someone, you may have the same shoe size, height, body shape, eye colour, hair colour, or even freckle pattern but, believe it or not, you are unique. Your biomes will vary, your DNA will vary and when you put all of your human aspects together in your living environment, you will always be unique. So that means that what someone else does, won’t always give you the same results for the same time and in the same way.
So, welcome to my Medium. Let’s get deep and let’s get weird with it.
